Music lovers were thrilled by the eccentric performance of musician David Adeleke aka Davido at his first sold-out show at O2 Arena, London. According to reports, the show, which took place on Sunday night, makes Davido the second Nigerian to sell out the Arena following Wizkid’s iconic 2018 show. The show was attended by Edward Enninful,  Editor of British Vogue and supermodel, Naomi Campbell who came to support the Nigerian Afropop star. In true Davido fashion, fans were treated to amazing performances from members of his DMW clan – Mayorkun, Peruzzi, Idowest and Yonda.

Prior to his remarkable entrance on stage, international music act, Tim Westwood and Nigerian, DJ ECool entertained the audience with hit songs to keep the energy up. Following this, globally acclaimed actor and Disc Jockey, Idris Elba stepped on stage to announce Davido’s entrance. The musician arrived on a suspended platform eliciting loud cheers from the audience. He went on to perform a catalogue of his hit tracks including ‘Dami Duro’, ‘FIA’, ‘If’, ‘Fall’ and ‘Assurance’, bringing his girlfriend, Chioma on stage as they shared a kiss. The crowd, who were familiar with his lyrics, sang loudly to the songs, creating a charged atmosphere with an energy matched by Davido’s energetic set. There were also few surprise performances including that of Jamaican superstar, Popcaan and Nigerian star, Zlatan. Other artists who took to the stage during the night include Victor AD who performed his smash hit, ‘Wetin We Gain’.

Enitimi Alfred Odom, better known by his stage name Timaya, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is the founder of South South hip hop group Dem Mama Soldiers. His solo career began in 2005 with the release of “Dem Mama”, which also appeared on his debut album, True Story released the following year.

“Had to spoil myself a lil. MAYBACH & G WAGON. CHULO way… STOOPID,” he captioned one of the photos.

Errr…so we all know, Timaya has in the last few month bought four cars for his record label signee, King Terry, his baby mama and himself. Now guys, who do you think Timaya will be getting the fifth car for?

Timaya apparently was already in the Christmas mood as he got his baby mama, Tamar a sleek Range Rover. The music star took to his Instagram page on Friday, December 21, 2018, where he posted a photo of the new car. In a caption for the photo, he said she deserved it for the good she has done.

“Everything good deserve to be BEAUTIFUL. Lil Christmas gift for my LADY @tamadecor CHULO way.❤ STOOPID,” he wrote.

It’s was barely few days to Christmas and some of your favourite celebrities like Timaya had already started giving out gifts like the car he bought for his label signee, King Perry. The reggae dance-hall star took to his Instagram page on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, where he posted a photo of his Christmas gift to King Perry which is a sleek Ford Dodge Charger 2013 model which goes for about N4.5M.

He went on caption the photo with quote: “Lil Christmas gift from CHULO @kingperryy u BOY. STOOPID.” This might be a little gift according to Timaya but this is one cute car that a lot of people will be wishing they had in their garage.

One of the twin brothers, Paul, who spoke with Showtime Celebrity opened up on their break-up, his music and plans to rebrand himself.. How have you been coping as a solo performer? It’s been good because it’s still the same old thing.

There is nothing new per se. It’s the same music, same style, same performance and same studio. The only difference is that I’m performing alone. At the initial stage, I wasn’t used to it but now, I’m getting used to it. Are you saying you are not missing your twin brother? I don’t even want to talk about the past. There are certain things you would ask me that will benefit you as a journalist, but won’t benefit me. So, the best thing I will do is to skip it because I don’t like discussing family issues. Except you want to know more about my personal family. As for my fans who want to hear my own side of the breakup story, I have my own way of communicating with them. L-R Peter, Jude, Paul Okoye Are the shows still coming your way since you went solo? Yes, that’s normal. I’m still attending shows.

Though there was a big breakdown when the breakup happened. Everybody was in shock because usually when things happen like that I always feel really low. I didn’t do anything again. I waited for almost nine months without doing anything. But this time, I’ve turned my life around, and in less than two months of doing so, things have started working for me again. Since then, I’ve released three songs. Will Psquare ever come together again? I didn’t leave the group and I don’t know why everybody keeps asking me that question. This is the fourth time it’s happening and I always wait. So this time, the difference is that I didn’t wait so I don’t have anything to say on the issue. But how are you trying to create your own brand after the breakup? When we were going for shows people used to call me ‘Rude Boy.’ It started from when we released one of our songs, ‘Busy Body.’ So, ‘Rude Boy’ has been there.

Even when I travel out of the country, our fans still ask me certain questions, which I don’t usually answer because I have certain things to protect. I didn’t work hard for twenty years just to throw it to the wind. I worked so hard for a reason and I’m keeping that reason to myself. That’s the reason I’m focused. How is your wife taking your breakup with your brother? I can’t say because it’s not my opinion, but I think she’s cool with it. When you started pursuing your solo careers, mouth-started wagging that you are not different from up and coming artistes? They know who they are referring to and whoever the person is referring to knows his or herself. Like I said earlier, nothing has changed. If you listen to our songs, it’s the same thing.

So, I cannot start overnight to discover new things because it’s still the same thing that I’m doing. I know we are in the new age of information technology, and people are free to say whatever they want to say. I know people are angry but there are certain things I cannot say because it’s a family issue. Like I said earlier, I don’t want to talk about the breakup because I need to protect my image. It won’t benefit me, but it will benefit the media. Anybody that knows me before now, would agree that I am not the social media type. We all have our respective jobs, my own part is what I’m playing which is to go to the studio to sing and write a good song. That’s what I’ve been doing over the years. But the difference now is that because I’m doing my own thing alone. I have to be out there and that’s what I’m trying to do for myself now; trying to be active on social media. In fact, I started being active on Instagram about two years ago. Before now, I used to spend my time in the studio.

That’s why you can never hear anything about me then. The only thing now is that I’m still doing the same old thing- music. I know our fans are feeling happy, I’m sorry. I never hurt anybody. Sometimes, there are things that would happen to you and you would prefer to be silent and move on with your life. I’m fine with it because my silence means I’m protecting my family. Whatever is happening nobody is good. So, the best thing I’m doing is just to keep quiet and continue doing my music. Buying songs is becoming a trend in the Nigerian music scene. Do you think it’s the way to go? I’ve never had that experience before. I understand the part of production but the part of buying song is a normal thing in the music industry. I don’t see anything wrong with that as long as there are two ways of going about it; The artist earning his pay after the song is out or you paying the artist outrightly. Whichever way you are doing it make sure it’s documented. There is what we call coincidence in music, somebody might release a song now and two days later, another artist releases the same song.

The former will accuse the latter of copying his songs. That’s why no matter who you are I don’t collect artiste’s CD for any reason, so they don’t come back to accuse me of copying their songs. Why do you want to change the name of your record label ? I don’t want it to be attached to my name for now. That’s why I want to change it because I am Rude Boy now and there are so many things I also need to change about myself. I will say 2018 is not a re-branding year for me, but for my record label. This is because I’m still the same person I have not changed. What inspires you to write songs ? It’s a gift and there’s a way I usually explain it, in as much as the voice is there. It’s how to put things together and it has been happening to me since I was a child. Gradually as I grew up, I realized that this thing is a gift that should not be wasted. I could remember buying a recorder then. I would keep it by my bed side and each time, I woke up from sleep at night, I would record the song playing in my mind. there was this melody that usually played in my head and while doing that, I would be doing the beat too.

Most of the songs I recorded back then are the ones that have become hits today. I can still remember how I got the inspiration to write songs like “Do me” “No one like You”, “Busy Body” and “Temptation.” I can still remember which room and where I was when I got the inspirations for the songs. Any retirement plan aside music ? I won’t say it’s a business but an investment. I mean property investment. Trust me, music is not for life though it can be for life as you get older. The best investment you can make today is going into real estate. Just be buying properties and keeping them because one day you will turn back and be proud of the investment that you have made.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are reportedly both performing during BET Experience at L.A. Live in June. According to Billboard, BET announced several concerts will be held June 20 through June 22 at the Staples Center.

BET was astute enough to book perceived rivals Nicki and Cardi on separate days. Nicki, Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez, Trippie Redd and Bri Steves will perform on June 21, while Cardi, Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby and City Girls will perform on June 22.

The bad blood between Nicki and Cardi’s reached its boiling point last September during New York Fashion Week when Cardi allegedly threw a shoe at Black Barbie. Cardi later aired out her grievances with Nicki during an extended Instagram rant, while Nicki offered $100,000 to anyone who had footage of the fight.

Although they appeared to end thingson a peaceful note, there’s still lingering tension surrounding them.

But, as they say, the show must go on.

V.I.P. tickets for the BET Experience go on sale Wednesday (January 30) at 2 p.m. ET and general tickets go on sale Friday (February 1). The event also includes the BET Fan Fest at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which includes a celebrity basketball game, celebrity meet and greets and seminars.

The 2019 BET Awards take place on June 23.

Gospel music artiste, Frank Edwards, has appealed to the federal government to enact strict laws against piracy to safeguard intellectual property rights in the country. Edwards made the appeal in an interview with NAN on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital. He said piracy has become an issue of great concern in the country, noting that laws to stem the menace were being strictly enforced.

“I feel sorry for the upcoming artists, for some of us who started a little early, we’ve found ways to market our songs internationally, both online and through other distribution networks,” he said. “But for the upcoming artists who may have only the Alaba International Market in Lagos that is already flooded with pirates as their only distribution point, it is a big problem.”

The artiste said music marketers now resort to collaborating with pirates to enable them to market their products for a specific time frame before such works could be pirated. “This time around, genuine marketers pay homage to pirates, to beg them to allow them sell their songs for a specific period,” he said. “They enter into an agreement, saying please allow me sell this album for 2 years, before you begin to produce pirated copies, it is that bad.”

Edward urged the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) to sponsor a bill against piracy to the national assembly. He said: “I think that PMAN should be more interested in sponsoring to the national assembly such a bill that rejects piracy in its entirety or seek for amendment of a section of the constitution in that regard. The trendy business in `Mixed Tapes’ is the highest form of piracy that has no law fighting it.”

“For instance, a pirate who decides to pick a song each from different original albums to form his own album, even without copyright permission from the original owners of the work, cannot be taken to court because there is no legal basis in such matters in the country’s constitution. Pirates have now known they could adopt this dubious strategy without falling into the long arm of the law and they are making brisk business through mixed tapes, at the expense of the artists.”

Frank Edwards also known as FrankRichboy, is a Nigerian contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and recording artist from Enugu, Enugu State. Edwards is the founder and owner of the record label Rocktown Records, which is home to recording artists such as Edwards himself, Gil, Divine, King BAS, Nkay, David, Dudu, Micah Heavens and among others.

He began singing at the age of ten and learned to play the piano from his father when he was young. He became a born-again Christian in his teenage years and has six albums and many hit singles to his name. His recent album is called Frankincense. He was on born July 22, 1989 in Enugu State, Nigeria. He is 29 years old as of 2018.
He was born Frank Ugochukwu Edwards into a family of seven. He grew up with five siblings. Speaking of his parents, Edwards attributes his success to his parent’s support.

With all Frank Edwards has said, I hope the government and PMAN find a lasting solution to the issue of piracy in Nigeria so artistes can sell their music and movies and make legit money.
