BARCELONA are reportedly starting to get worried about the problems they'll face when Lionel Messi eventually leaves the Nou Camp.

Messi has forged a reputation as one of the world's best ever players since making his first-team debut back in 2004.

And his performances have helped deliver an era of immense success for the Spanish giants, with 29 trophies won during his stint in the senior set-up.

Messi's been influential once again this season as Ernesto Valverde's side have chased a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble.

The latest reports from Spain suggest Barcelona are fearful about what life will be like once the 30-year-old leaves them though.

According to Diario Gol, Barcelona's dependency upon Messi has raised concerns at the Nou Camp.

And the transfer business conducted since Josep Maria Bartomeu became president has come under scrutiny.

Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez, Samuel Umtiti and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen are supposedly rated as the only success stories of the Bartomeu era.

And that's allegedly led to whispers of "Bartomeu is to blame" around the Nou Camp.

Messi and fellow senior stars are said to have seen requests to sign top talent fall by the wayside.

Deals for Paulinho, Nelson Semedo, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer, Lucas Digne, Aleix Vidal, Arda Turan, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen and Douglas have all been criticised.

While Diario Gol indicate doubts have been raised over the mega-money signings of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele too.

Barcelona's youth academy is not proving to be as productive as it once was either.

And that's said to have added to worries that have led Barcelona chiefs to warn an overhaul will be needed post-Messi, with huge additions such as Kylian Mbappe potentially required.
